Spring Busker Festival at Seaport Village 2011

JIMMY TALKSALOT 2010 SEAPORT VILLAGE BUSKER FEST.

as many of you know i have been here in san diego for over two years now.

i do family entertainment for tips.

i do small 10 - 15 minute acts on the sidewalks, which sometimes may turn into a larger 30 minute act.......

what i love, is small door way acts and since coming to san diego i have found the sidewalk performers dream spot.

this venue is practically taylored for me.

it is a little village that was designed by disney to look like a little spanish medieval village, it has an incredable view of the bay.

cobble stone paths weaving through all the little shops, with sidewalk performers of every kind peppered through out the village.

seaport village loves the small low key acts, because it "fits," and this is fine with me.

it is vertually impossible to do a large circle show at this venue, because of regulations and space available, except at the busker's festival that comes once a year in april.

thousands show up for this free admission festival, with acts from all over.

i have many students around the world and since i have been here for two years i have picked up some here and created a sort of apprentaship program.

if you come you will get a chance to meet them and watch them perform off property at the bay by the festival.

i invite everyone to come and see the wonderful burst of the new scene here in san diego.

the festival only booked ten acts for the few spots, but there will also be various other performers through out the village on property in the smaller nooks.

unfortunately, because the village is so small, buskers are not welcome on property unless they are officailly in the festival.

but, on the off mall property section of the board walk along the bay and out in the emarcadero park off village property,

there are always a huge amount of buskers who come from all over to work the heaving crowds.

in years past i have worked off property, but last year and this year i have had the huge honor to be booked into the festival.

i am hoping that y'all come visit me and at the festival, to watch my show and meet me.

here's the line up for;

SURFIN SANTA AT SEAPORT VILLAGE

Surfin' Santa Sails into Seaport Village on November 27
Festivities include LED holiday light exchange and eco friendly ornament making

Photo GallerySanta's trading in the red suit for board shorts and sailing into Seaport Village on November 27 for his highly anticipated return to San Diego. Cannon fire will announce Santa’s arrival on a pirate ship, The Californian, courtesy of the Maritime Museum, after which he’ll head to shore for a variety of holiday festivities throughout the afternoon. Complete with rockin' holiday music and live entertainment, visitors can kick off the holiday season by perusing unique gift shops and taking in the best that the Big Bay has to offer..

"Santa will still celebrate in true San Diego style, while also demonstrating environmentally friendly options available for festive activities and encouraging us to think green for the winter season." said Seaport Village General Manager Terry Hall.

Seaport Village's holiday event on November 27 includes:

Surfing Santa at Seaport Village
Kids and adults will greet San Diego's board short-wearing Santa with a lively parade after his ship arrives at Seaport Village around 1 p.m. Santa will be available for surfing photos all afternoon, leaving time to enjoy the kids craft tables, strolling entertainers, and delectable dining.

LED Light Exchange, sponsored by San Diego Gas & Electric ®
'Tis the season to be green! Bring up to three old strands of holiday lights, along with a current SDG&E bill or California identification, to the East Gazebo from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. and exchange them for an equal number of LED strands. LED lights can save 90 percent in energy costs and last longer than conventional holiday lights. The old strands that are turned in will be recycled.

Eco Friendly Ornament Making, sponsored by Birch Aquarium Compliments of the Birch Aquarium at Scripps and The Port of San Diego, kids can make their own recycled ornaments that afternoon and take them home to decorate their own family tree.

The fun doesn't stop there, locals and their out-of-town guests can visit Seaport Village every day in December for a truly San Diego holiday experience, complemented with free live musical entertainment and more than 50 local retailers. Also, Seaport Village hosts Breakfast with Santa at the Harbor House Restaurant on Dec. 18 and 19. Reservations can be made by calling Megan Capizzi at 619-235-4014.

My thoughts on Seaport Village

SAN DIEGO STREET PERFORMER

My thoughts on Seaport Village

Hi

I am the resident Magician at Seaport Village.

Seaport Village to me is the best that San Diego has to offer. I mean this quite literally, not as a sales slogan or what ever.

if you are looking for fun, culture, and beautiful scenery in a laid back atmosphere, check us out here we have found an oasis in San Diego.

I love it here and I love the people who work and own businesses here.

the shoping's fun here.

but the thing that stands out most is that there's a lot to do for anyone.

if your on a tight budget -or- if you wanna live rich and posh.

it's one of the few places that can be great for anyone.

from fine dining and gallerys to bohemian cafes and street entertainers.

it is literally a little village.
